Does Your Website Contact Process Need A Checkup?
Have you checked your website contact information lately? You may need to. Things on the web have a way of changing when you least expect it. This can happen from software updates, plugin changes or even as any villain in Scooby Doo would say, “Those meddling kids.” Either way, few things can be as frustrating as discovering your site’s contact form is not working or your phone number is wrong. When this happens, you have no way of knowing how many potential customers you may have missed.
To make sure your contact information is working for you, regularly do the following.
Test Your Website Contact Form
Send yourself a message from your website contact form to make sure it works and also to review how the information is processed. Even a functioning contact form may not be processing all of the data your visitors are entering. Fill in all of the fields on your form and submit the form to make sure everything is working properly. Also, when your website form is used, are your visitors thanked for responding or sent to the correct follow-up page? In some situations, your form may actually trigger an error. This is not the last message you want potential customers to see from your business.
Double Check Your Site’s Contact Information
Make a quick check check to make sure your name, address and phone number is correct on your website, especially if you have made any recent changes. Check to make sure any maps on your site are displaying correctly. If your site has e-mail links, make sure they are listed correctly and working properly. Be sure you are taking actions to avoid spam if you decide to post e-mail addresses on your site.
Check Social Media Links
Your social media platforms are another important way people communicate with you or your business. Don’t assume they are actually displaying or working. If any of your social addresses change, you will need to update website links. Websites that use Wordpress or other content management systems require diligent link checking since core updates or plugin changes can do strange things to your links.
Rinse and Repeat
Your website contact process demands frequent attention. Visitors to your site are vital to its success. Make it easy for them to contact you and don’t assume things are going well. A monthly checkup could save you a lot of frustration down the road.
